Description:“I come from a state in Brazil called Pernambuco where music and dance are a way of life and I have danced since I was little. I have danced with several troupes in my city, Recife . My first experience was dancing for the School of Frevo. Frevo is a signature musical style from Pernambuco involving a feverish rhythm played by a brass band at Carnival in Recife and Olinda. It was there where I had my first dancing lessons and became a professional dancer and learned all the professional dancing techniques of Ballet, Jazz, Samba, Frevo, Salsa, Maracatu etc . As a dancer and being part of a dancing group, I have also won several dancing competitions in Recife’s Carnival. I consider myself as a very versatile dancer, able to improvise when necessary and being extremely professional with what I do. In addition to that, my family always played an important role in my development. My Dad used to own a Samba club back in Recife which gave me a greater incentive to keep my love for dancing. During Carnival I have always taken part in the Samba Schools Gigantes do Samba, as a dancer (passista) and in the Frevo and Maracatu bands; also taking part, dancing professionally. With taste of Brasil, I have also had the opportunity to take part in important events in and around London such as the Cheltenham Race Festival, a Sony TV show with Lenny Henry, various events at the South Bank, Hilton Hotel, O2 Arena and charity events for TARU etc. Dance is an art form. At its best it is, for me, a powerfully magical expression of positive energy. That was the philosophy I was raised with and my own personal experience has, many times, verified its truth. Therefore, for me, being a part of the group Taste of Brasil is a way of being closer to my culture and the music and dancing which are so important to me”
